Robert Hamilton, M.D., President and CEO of EmergiCare, introduced urgent care to the Pikes Peak Region in 1981. After serving as an ER doctor at Denver General Hospital and starting the emergency department at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo, Dr. Hamilton came up with the idea to develop a group of private clinics with outstanding doctors delivering urgent care services in small, friendly settings. These urgent care clinics would provide an alternative to long and expensive waits in sterile, crowded hospital emergency rooms for a much lower price. EmergiCare Medical Clinics were born.
