About Excel Physical Therapy:

Since 1994, Excel Physical Therapy has partnered with EmergiCare Medical Clinics. Our practice is conveniently located within the 4 EmergiCare locations. Our goal is to be the industry leader in providing evaluation, treatment and prevention of work related injuries on Southern Colorado. We also provide care to privately insured patients. We will work closely with physicians at EmergiCare as well as with your primary medical care provider from the onset of the injury til the close of the case. We ensure timely, cost effective case management. This proactive approach results in your employee remaining at work, where they are needed most.

About our Physical Therapist:

Dave Schlender, Physical Therapist, PT, ATC

Dave Schlender has been in practice since 1988. He is the owner of Excel Physical Therapy, a successful outpatient Physical Therapy practice serving Southern Colorado, since moving to the area in 1994. He and his team now provide thorough evaluation, individualized treatment and educational prevention of work related injuries.

Dave received his Physical Therapy education at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, as well as Bachelors of Science from The University of North Dakota. Additionally, he is a Certified Athletic Trainer, and a trained Manual Therapist. He has received extensive training in hands-on manual therapy, including joint mobilization, manipulation, myofascial release as well as various other techniques.

Dave is a former collegiate athlete, Father of three, and in his spare time enjoys hiking, downhill skiing, fishing and golf.

About our Physical Therapy Assistants:

Michael Moore, Director of Physical Therapy, ABDA, MA, ATC, PTA

A Graduate of University of Northern Colorado completing his Bachelors in Athletic Training in 1988 and his Masters of Health and Sports Administration in 1989, Michael's career began with a year long internship in Sports Medicine with The Denver Broncos. Upon completion of this Internship he moved to Colorado Springs to begin working with Emergicare under the Direction of Jeff Charland, PT and Charland Physical Therapy. in 1994 Michael founded Excel Physical and Occupational Therapy and joined forces with Emergicare to offer in house Occupational Medicine and Physical Therapy services to the Colorado Springs community.

In 2005, Michael achieved the status of Senior Disability Analyst and Diplomate from the American Board of Disability Analysts. He performs Functional Capacity Evaluations, Impairment preparations and Social Security Disability Evaluations for Emergicare as well as many other Colorado Springs and Southern Colorado Urgent care centers and Physician Offices. His client region spans from Denver to the New Mexico border.

Michael is a member of the American Board of Disability Analysts (ABDA), National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Dave Steere, PTA, BS, CMT

Dave has been with Excel Physical Therapy, working within the EmergiCare clinics for 14 months. He holds a Bachelors of Science in Physical Education from University of Southern Colorado. Dave is also a Certified Massage Therapist. He is a big proponent of explaining pain to patients through the Bio-psych Social Model. His hobbies include baseball, reading, and exercise.
